Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions Oxford, N.C., Facility Celebrates 1 Million Hours Without Lost-Time Accident
OXFORD, N.C. (April 20, 2010) - Reaching a major safety milestone, the Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions (BBTS) facility in Oxford, N.C., today marked 1 million hours worked without a lost-time accident. North Carolina Department of Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry joined Plant Manager Mark Averette and BBTS executives to recognize the 175 employees at a facility-wide award
ceremony and lunch.
“The success of a safety and health program depends on everyone working together,” said Berry. “Each employee should be very proud. I congratulate everyone at Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions for achieving one million hours worked without a lost work-time accident.”
The 1 million hours worked achievement is not the first safety-related recognition earned by Oxford employees. In 2009, the Rubber Manufacturers Association recognized the facility with a Safety Health Improvement Program Excellence Award. In addition, the North Carolina Department of Labor previously recognized the plant with a safety award in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
“Every day, our BBTS co-workers go the extra mile to ensure the highest level of safety for one another in the workplace,” said Averette. “This milestone was not achieved overnight — it reflects our commitment to safety each and every day.”
The Oxford facility employs more than 175 people and produces tread rubber and retreading materials. BBTS is part of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations.
